Non-Locative Constructions with the Relative Adverb of Place ‘Where’ in Oral Texts

In this paper, we aim to study the behavior and distribution of constructions with the relative adverb of place, ‘where’, with a non-locative value in an oral corpus. Most of these constructions have been normatively disapproved (temporal value: ‘times when peace reigns’; non-locative antecedent: ‘facet where the actress stands out’); however, they are documented in written texts of current Spanish. On the other hand, in some contexts in which ‘where’ expresses non-locative value, the behavior of this nexus is close to that of conjunctions (causal value: ‘fix it where you caused it’; relative anaphoric value instrumental: ‘this is the tool where you fixed it’). The study carried out in this work will allow us to know the extent of these trainings in Spanish considering the analysis of an oral corpus formed by gatherings and debates. The record of these non-locative constructions in the oral sphere, characterized by spontaneity and lack of planning, confirms that we are dealing with structures rooted in current Spanish, which is why they should be the object of study and attention.
