Peer Review Process
General Description
When a manuscript is submitted to Revista Signos, it is assessed to see if it meets the criteria for submission and scope of the Journal. If it does, the editorial team will select potential peer reviewers within the field of research from our peer-reviewers database, or request to our disciplinary editors some researchers to peer-review the manuscript and obtain recommendations.
The type of peer review used by Revista Signos is Double Blind peer-review.
Detailed Description of Revista Signos Peer Review Process
The review process contemplates that—at least—two specialists evaluate the manuscript in a blind process. With their assessment of the manuscript and the monitoring of one of the Disciplinary Editors, the Editor-in-Chief will inform the authors of the feasibility of publication by sending them a letter of acceptance, an 'under review with amendments' report, or a rejection report. For this process, a period of approximately 8 months is foreseen.
If there is any disagreement between the specialists' recommendations, it will be settled by the Editor-in-Chief.
In the case of receiving an 'under review with amendments' report, the author has 45 days to resubmit the modified manuscript, according to the suggestions reported. Beyond this period, it will be understood that the author desists from continuing in the editorial process.
The resubmitted manuscript must be accompanied by a letter explicitly stating how the suggestions or comments of the peer reviewers have been incorporated. The manuscript will be sent for re-evaluation to the same specialists, who will make a new report where they can approve with or without amendments the manuscript or reject it.
If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author must upload on the online platform the definitive version of the article in WORD format. On the other hand, the author will receive an acceptance letter for the article, where the number of the Journal and the tentative date on which its publication is scheduled will be communicated.
