El libro que se reseña, Texts and Practices Revisited. Essential Readings in Critical Discourse Analysis (2nd ed.), es un aporte relevante a los Estudios Críticos del Discurso (en adelante ECD), tanto porque trata fenómenos discursivos muy recientes –como el discurso multimodal de los juegos inmersivos en línea–, como porque se hace cargo de fenómenos de gran repercusión sociopolítica, como el discurso globalizado de la nueva derecha radical. Se trata además de un volumen con un enfoque didáctico que reúne a autores consagrados del campo con algunos nóveles sudamericanos, que están comenzando su producción académica. Si bien el texto no ofrece metodologías innovadoras de análisis discursivo, sí integra conceptualizaciones muy interesantes desde el campo de los estudios sociales que permiten profundizar en el análisis de esa relación siempre compleja entre discurso y poder. Entre los autores que participan en el volumen de 15 capítulos se encuentran: Roger Fowler, Gunther Kress, Norman Fairclough, Jay Lemke, Theo van Leeuwen, Ruth Wodak, Malcolm Coulthard, Teun A. van Dijk, Luisa Martín Rojo, Phil Graham, David Machin, Germán Canale, Rodrigo Borba, Carmen Rosa Caldas-Coulthard y Mary M. Talbot.
